I heard faint voices from about 0645z. Got
EA7GSU and HB9CQS at 0754z..

Good conditions considering ---. This Sunday
I even managed to work some European stations!!
Here is what the net looked like from
HB9-land:
06:32z - First CQ RI net call. Nothing.
06:45z - VK4ZD/P, Bill, 44 both ways, so we
decided to wait 10 minutes.
06:55z - Heard the VKs in QSO. Good
signals.
07:00z - VK4ZD/P, Bill, 56-7 here most of
the time. Got the same from VK4. Bill stayed with the net until 07:44z..
07:00z - VK4KCD, Peter, 56 here.
07:00z - VK2GWK, Henk, 59/59. I like that
SteppIr antenna. Henk too close to VK4ZD/P and no copy.
07:06z - VK5CV, Bill called in. Too early
for me. Only 22 here, but VK4 <=> VK5 appeared to be OK.
07:08z - SM4CSF, Nils. Good to hear Nils on
the ANZO net. Swung the beam towards NW and had Nils 58. 7 deg.C and
raining.
07:11z - EA/G4HMG/M, John from Northern
Spain. I only heard a faint murmur, but Nils worked John OK.
07:20z - EA7GSU, Pertti. Peaking 59. Later
on Pertti managed to work VK4ZD/P, powered by the sun. Great!
07:31z - VK5CV, Bill, 55 here briefly. Got
43. Lost Bill in QRM from Jamboree activity and German contest.
07:55z - G4YZE, Bill, 59 initially,
dropping to 56. Had a good and interesting triangle G4/EA7/HB9 after
closing hours.
08:09z - Signed off with Bill and Pertti.

Jim had +1c, snow forecast, a short fall this

John EA/G4HMG/p near Santander. Returning to UK
from Bilbao 24th, in Portsmouth 26th.
Coos had 4c and nice still weather. Radio
conditions very noisy.
Laslo was glad to report Helga back home. Laszlo
has a big reception at the Hungarian
embassy in Lisbon on Tuesday, the 50th
anniversary of the Hungarian uprising.
Pertti EA7GSU was glad to have several days rain
in Spain. Was able to fire up his sauna
without causing a forest fire. Now he reports
he is "clean in skin and soul"
Nils SM4CSF had a great day on the nets. He is
in the right place for the propagation now !
Per OZ5PD has now sent out all
the QSL cards from the Copenhagen Convention.
He would very much appreciate
return cards from all who made contact with Copenhagen.

Spain.
Conditions very good. Rather noisy !

On October 17, four Japanese
visitors arrived at the Leominster, Ma. QTH, Jim Moran-W1QUO.
Max Ishihara,JR1JCU,Director of
International ROAR Net Committee,
Yoshio Muto,JE1JQX, Secretary of ROAR-j,
Toshimasu Obokata, banker and Miss Hiromi
Kanai,translator.
Following a welcoming, ceremonial tea
service, Mr. Muto,JE1JQX brought his laptop and video camera and
demonstrated a live ROAR meeting with ROAR Japan members. We sincerely
appreciate the Japanese
members who stayed up very late to participate in the round table.
Following the computer-aided Yahoo Messenger
Roar net meeting, the group proceeded to the regular Tuesday
meeting of the Fitchburg, Ma. Rotary club. A gala meeting, conducted by
madam president, Linda Largey took
place and included a special welcome to the Japanese visitors by
secretary, Karen Fusco.
Attendance included District 7910 Governor, Suzanne Comer.
