Roar Nets May 14 2006

 
Not a good day for propagation with K-index =2 and solar flux 73
 
A great weekend was had by all at Matlock Bath, Derbyshire, on the occasion of our Roar in RIBI AGM. 
We were entertained, and educated, by ROAR President Dr. Laszlo Racz together with
his very charming XYL Helga, not to mention some very welcome (bottled) Portuguese Sunshine.
Others involved included Bill Learmonth/G4YZE, Regional Vice Ch. and Josee,  Brian Whittaker G3LUW
Hon. Sec, and Margaret,  Bruce Foxall G0PCF Hon. Treas. and Susan,  Don Cliffe G0JWE Communicator
Editor, and Daphne,  John Betts G4HMG and Diana G4MVV,  John Gardener GW4KVJ and Peggy,
John Goldsmith G4KTX and Cecily, Ralph Lansdale M0BDI and Sally,  Norman Laud G0MMO and Iris,
Hugh Morgan-Jones M1NTO and Elizabeth,  Jim Readings G4MVO and Peggy., and last but not least
Mike Sanders G8LES with his professional video camera recording the proceedings.
Apologies received from Tony G4FTA who although unwell was able to run the morning 80-metre net from his home,
also apologies from John G2CJL not quite well enough to make it,  and from Tommy G2FUU who did not
feel able to drive the distance to Matlock.  We hope to hold the AGM at Mildenhall next year Tommy so no excuses !
There were some more apologies which I do not have to hand.

Hope that you had an enjoyable AGM. Next year I will make an effort to attend.
Perhaps as a result of the AGM, the ANZO net was almost non-existent this Sunday morning.

07:04z  VK2BLZ, Len, my Monday thru Friday QSO partner, living near Coffs Harbour, 56/56. Signed off 07:10z.
07:17z  G4JVW, Bill, 58 here. Got 59 from Devon.
08:00z  Went QRTafter having called CQ RI net at intervals since 07:01z.
Did not participate in the International net.

Dear Bill,
               A big thank you to Pertti, EA7GSU, Jubridque-"Kuinka Voit?" "Hyva, Hyva."  Starting at UTC 11:30,
communications were interupted at times by heavy solar noise and QSB.  Nevertheless, Pertti relayed message
from G8LES/M with great news of UK meeting.  Check-ins included SM4CSF, Nils, Falun, VO1NP,Nate,KF4QBE,
Joe,Bradenton.  The latter reports preperation for 80th year anniversary of Bradenton, Florida Rotary Club, District 6960. 
The solar noise battle continued until approximately 12:40 UTC.
