Brought to you by Bill Learmonth .. G4YZE

Roar Nets January 9 2005

Propagation very unstable.  K index varied 1 to 3.

0745z - 0845z  Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
Message from Bill VK5CV "Apologies for the net. Daughter's birthday. Very important."
You didn't miss much Bill !
I listened and  called occasionally from 0815z to 0910z but only heard fitful
whispers in the noise. Stations "heard" were G4HMG, HB9CQS, G3LUW,
VK2GWK and VK4ZD.  None at workable strength here but my thanks to
Klaus HB9CQS for the following report : -
Judged from HB9-land conditions were extremely poor during yesterday's net.
UTC 0804 I was able to join the Australians. At that time VK4ZD was 52 and VK2GWK was 54.
Noel, VK2IWT was on as well, but I could not copy him at all.
Instead of improving, conditions got worse. I could still read Henk, but had great difficulties copying Bill, VK4ZD.
At 0827 Henk went QRT. He came back on the net at 0846 with 53 and I worked him until 0852.
I was listening on the VE/W net in the afternoon. W1QUO was 56-58, but UK stations were not readable.
Even Laszlo was difficult to read at times, so I did not call in.  73  Klaus, HB9CQS

Nate VO1NP - big concert tonight in St.John's for Tsunami funds. Choirs and symphony orchestra

Chairman Laszlo has many messages of support from Fellowship Chairmen for his protests against
R.I. indemnity and has conveyed them to the R.I.Board. We await results at the February meeting
in Annaheim and we all hope he is successful in persuading R.I to think again.

1900z - 2000z  UK evening 80-metre net on 3,692
Eight on the net in rather wierd conditions.
Skip rather long and varying continuously.

Messages Received.
From Per Dantoft OZ5PD (via John g4hmg.)
Under the cryptic title "Storm" a good picture of the remains of Per's telescopic tiltover lattice mast
the lower part still vertical, now with a sharp 60-degree bend in the middle and the mast-head
and beam antenna lying on the ground. Alongside is the wreckage of a slimline lattice tower
with microwave dish attached. Per's only comment "It will be a while before I am on the air again."
Our sincere sympathy Per and hope you can get back on the air before too long !
