Bill VK4ZD managed to get over the top most of the time.
He had enjoyed a great District Conference at Ballina about 250 Km
South of Gatton, in VK2 country. R.C. Gatton won a great skit
competition. The prize was a P.H.Fellowship for the club to award to a
person of their choice. Now there's an idea !
Bill had an e-mail from Bill/VK5CV to say he had severe noise
at Waikerie and could not get on the net. Better luck next week Bill !
Chairman Laszlo needs to know who is going to the Chicago Convention.
If you are going, or know of any Roar member who is going please let
Laszlo know, by e-mail if possible. (Or let me know and I will relay to
Laszlo)
I do not know of any Roar/UK member who is going.

"Chicago unveils sign honoring first Rotary club"
"On 23 February, the day Rotary marked its centennial, the City of
Chicago, Illinois, USA, honored the Rotary Club of Chicago by
unveiling a street sign that bears the honorary name of "Rotary Club
of Chicago Way."
Located on the southeast corner of North Dearborn Street and West
Randolph Street in downtown Chicago, the sign is on the block that
used to house the Unity Building, where four Chicago businessmen
created the first Rotary club 100 years earlier. Today, a plaque in
the sidewalk dedicated in June 2004 marks that spot.
Dozens of Rotarians were in attendance, including the centennial year
president of the Rotary Club of Chicago, Robert Knuepfer, who
unveiled the sign with Chicago Alderman Burton Natarus.
Although the Unity Building was demolished in 1989, the sidewalk
space at 127 North Dearborn Street in Chicago's Loop commemorates the
site where Paul P. Harris, Silvester Schiele, Gustavus H. "Gus"
Loehr, and Hiram E. Shorey held what would become the first meeting
of the Rotary Club of Chicago on the evening of 23 February 1905.
The contents of Room 711, Loehr's office in the Unity Building where
the meeting took place, were carefully relocated to RI headquarters
in Evanston, Illinois, before demolition of the building began in 1989."
From Vincent/YO9BC : -
Dear Bill,
Thank-you for the text received from John - W8AUV, re. "ROAR" plans for
Convention
in Chicago, June 18-22- 2005 . This is real great !!!! -- I have no
comments to make,
all seems O.K. and well planned .
- You should know that our Ploiesti R.I Club, will have the largest
representation from
the country and I will inform our president about ROAR plans .
- If you think is a good idea , I would like to publish one short
info.in our YO Radio
amateurs bulletin, about the Special Event Station W9R, [
to be "IN" ,by MAY 2005 ] (Great Idea Coco! )
-I finally decided to send to John Cook / KK4IX, the ROAR dues in "U.S.
NOTES",
[one 20 and one 5 $] by air-mail , to cover YO9BC -[myself] and YO9BGR
[George] -
for 2005 year . Transfer by Bank is complicated and the relative
small amount ,
make-it worthwhille to take the risk, of once a while, to see mail lost
....
-I am disappointed to tell you that "meteo conditions" [ 20 degree below
zero C] did
not allow me to finalise my antenna broken by last storm ! -Temperature
forecast is
good for mid March and after, and then, definitely, all will be "fixed"
....In top of the
"shack" in Ploiesti, I prepare the second "set-up" in my property in "Paulesti
country"
[ at 6 Km. from my actual location ],were 80m band will be covered with
one RHOMBIC
antenna with each leg of 240 m. length ! [ watch your "S" meter
!]
- Best Rotarians regards and 73's from Vince / YO9BC [ Coco ]
