1900z - 2000z UK evening 80-metre net on
Band extremely noisy. I gave up after several calls.
Later I got the following from Brian G3LUW. who did much better.
"Good Evening Bill,
I ran the net this evening. Very variable and noisy conditions on
3690. Ralph apologised for
his absence this morning - he was supervising the erection of the
Christmas tree in Chichester
town centre. 8 of us altogether. 73 Brian"

From Pertti/EA7GSU on his "Roof Raising" Party
---------- the party was a success, even if I say so. Nearly 50 people
came, we had "tapas"
(=cocktail bits), drinks and paella, made on spot and SO DELICIOUS that
I promised to go to
caterers restaurant in the first occasion to have more. Entertainment
included slide show of the
progress of the work, my ham radio station was on display and an
opportunity was offered for
painting with acrylic, which produced no pictures. And an exhibition of
my paintings, "market
research" of what people like indicated by giving points 1st, 2nd, 3rd
and worst.
The score is presented down (not the worst though) and last one was the
contester for winner.
I got the feeling everybody enjoyed, particularly those who left close
to 2000hours when pressure was nil.
It was a good excuse to have fun, we'll invent more!!
Have a satisfying week and call the relative you last thought of a year
ago.
Pertti
From Peter VK3KCD.
Good Morning Bill
Most unusual propagation tonight. Heard all VK stations at 5&9 for
most of the net with a small
"hole" around 0800. Europe stations first heard at about 0820 but no
useful strength until 0900.
Have acquired an outboard DSP speaker with up to 35db noise
suppression and without this would
not have copied anyone. When you heard me you were 4&4 and improving.
PA0SDZ was also 4&4.
The suggestion of 0800z to 0900z would seem OK as my propagation
programme shows a peak for
this QTH at 0900z. If you want to check it out my grid square is
QF21mm.
