Propagation very bad, even worse than last week.  K-index reached 9.

"On Friday the Thirteenth (May 13, 2005) at 1650z a tremendous
explosion near sunspot 759 blasted toward earth. The impact on the
earth's magnetic field was felt at 0230z on May 15, producing an
extreme geomagnetic storm............................
On Sunday, May 15 the planetary K index reached 9. This is huge".
0630z - 0730z  Europe - Anzo net on 14,293 Long Path.
0642z - HB9CQS Klaus from Obwalden 3/1 in the back-scatter.
0643z - VK4ZD Bill from Gatton 1/1 here but Klaus got a little.
0643z - VK5CV Bill from Waikerie 1/1 here.
0701z - EA7GSU Pertti from Fuengirola 3/3 rising to 5/6
0706z - G3LUW Brian from Devon 2/2 here, got 5/1 from Pertti.
0724z - G0JWE Don from Derby 1/1 here, got
0727z - GW4KVJ John from S.Wales 2/1, got 5/2 from Pertti
0739z - Net ended.

The only man to make it to VK-land from this side was Klaus and he reports as follows.  : -

0636: Got VK4ZD 56/56, but lost him at 06:44
0718: EA7GSU, Pete, came back to me on my CQ Rotary Int. Net call. RS 45 and I lost him soon afterwards.

Pertti EA7GSU was doing well with his ground plane and provided qso's for Brian, Don, John and me.
We should hear more of EA7GSU shortly when he gets his beam up at his new location.

1224z - Net ended.  Not much transatlantic propagation.

"Dear Bill,  Sunday, May 15, 11:30 UTC 14.293 net  Very high noise, very poor propagation. 
Heard G4YZE 2x2 peaking at a short interval to 5x3 when in QSO with SM4CSF.  No copy on Nils at this QTH.
Transcontinental net 1800 UTC also suffered poor propagation,  high noise, but did manage to squeeze through
with WB7RQG net control with K7LVC, W0TBC, KF5BD, W1QUO.

On this side of the pond Nils SM4CSFcame to our rescue along with Pertti again and provided some good contacts for John
and Don and myself.  Many thanks to all for trying.  The solar storms might give us a break next week !
