completed and the latest
reports from Laszlo on Chicago have been incorporated. Bill had
some blessed rain today.

and difficulty speaking.
Laszlo confirmed Chicago arrangements going very well. John Maier
W8AUV has done a
fabulous job negotiating use of the Red-Cross Emergency
Communications Vehicle with its
superb equipment and antenna. There is also a possibility that we
might be allowed to erect
an antenna on the Convention Centre roof ensuring a very good
take-off for signals.
The Roar exhibition booth has been reserved as has a meeting room
for the Roar AGM.

"Still a little wintry"
As regards his son Jim Jr. (James M Moran of Harvard University,
Professor of Radio Astronomy)
I had exaggerated the frequencies at which Jim's equipment
operates. I think I said 1.6 Terahertz.
It operates in the range 300 to 600 Gigahertz using a maser for a
local oscillator. From Moana Kea
they have got much good information about black holes and the
origins of the universe.
He reports no qso's with Extra-terrestrial Intelligent Life so far
!
Laszlo confirmed all arrangements for the Rotary Centennial at
Chicago are in hand.
Pertti has been in temporarhy housing on his new site for two
months while the builders
complete his house. Meanwhile he is using a groundplane antenna.
Been cold, almost zero C !
Karl getting very good copy today in Nyneshamn. Got 20 cms of
snow and plus 1C.
Nils also doing well in Falun but no copy on Karl. Too close for
20m and too mountainous.

Nate reported his club do a good PR exercise. They give out free
packets of "Red Hearts"
cinnamon sweets to members of the public in the city centre and at
main street intersections.
Each packet contains a note saying "Please support Rotary
Charities" and listing various
recipients of Rotary charitable efforts in the locality and
world-wide.
Bert Reported temps in Cambridge well above normal. Minus 3 C !
Mehmed in Berlin had a good chat with Laszlo. Mahmed is going
