Propagation quite good, though much
flare trouble. K-index=3, Solar flux
104.
0630z - 0730z Europe - Anzo Net on
14,293 Long Path.
I listened from 0600Z but heard nothing
until 0645z when Klaus became
discernible.
Space noise on the band was S7 here,
falling to S3-4 by the end of the net.
0645z - HB9CQS Klaus from Obwalden 2/1,
up to 3/4 by 0700z.
0648z - VK2GWK Henk from Nelson Bay 1/1,
up to 4/5 by 0700z.
0648z - VK4ZD/p Bill, near Gatton 1/1,
got to 2/1 at best by 0710z
0648z - VK3KCD Peter from Flinders 1/1
here.
0719z - G3LUW Brian from Devon 1/1 here
but got 5/5 from Henk.
0727z - OH6SM Martti from Lapua 2/1
here, got Henk 5/7
0736z - EA/G4HMG/p John from Los
Madrilles, 2/1 here, got 4/4 from Henk.
0745z - Net ended. Contacts rather
scrappy but several were made so it
was worth-while. I got a rather thin
contact with Henk and learned that
Henk will be on next Sunday but then
away in Europe for some weeks.
Klaus did better early in the net but
concluded the earlier start was not
successful.
Klaus sums up as follows : -
"Today's net showed that it was a
blunder on my part to suggest that we
should start earlier.
I should have trusted my propagation
program prediction which has a maximum
for HB9 / VK2
and VK4 contacts at 0700z. It appears
that the fine HB9 / VK2 conditions
experienced at 0600z
during the past two weeks must have
been fluctuations on the general
pattern.
This morning I was unable to raise
Henk until 0635z, when he was 55 / 55.
Bill, VK4ZD/P was
33 / 55 at that time and Peter, VK3KCD
was 44 / 57-59. At 0700z Henk was
59+10 / 59+10 and
Bill, VK4ZD/P was 55, working portable
from the station of VK4SN, Alan, in
Glenore Grove. I did
not hear Bill, VK5CV, or hear other
stations working him.
I recognized your voice when you
called in at 0704z, but that was all.
Brian, G3LUW, was 33 at
0712z and 56 shortly before the net
closed at approx. 0742z.
Henk worked OH6SM, Marti, at the end
of the net, but Marti was not readable
here. Neither was John,
EA/ G4HMG. I did not hear anything of
David, EA5ALK, and Pertti,
EA7GSU.
73 Klaus, HB9CQS"

1156z - VE3BGG Bert from Cambridge ON
only 3/3 today
1210z - Net ended due to falling
signals. Much better than the VK net
but
contacts still marginal apart from Jim
whose big signal came in 5/8-9
throughout.
Coos will be absent next Sunday at a
memorial service in Chatham Ontario.
Bert VE3BGG is back in Cambridge ON.
after the summer break.
Great to hear Per back on the air after
his mast disaster in the winter gales.

is on the organising committee
for the next RI Convention in the joint
venue Copenhagen-Malmo. in 2006.
